Brie Larson headlines Marvel’s first solo female-led movie in Captain Marvel

Marvel are dominant, as always it seems, on the latest podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

The biggest release of the week is obviously Captain Marvel, in which the MCU delivers a film led by a solo female character for the first time. Brie Larson takes the title role in a movie designed to introduce the character prior to her pivotal part in Avengers: Endgame. We also find time to mention the Swedish fantasy romance Border, which features the weirdest cinematic sex scene of the year so far.

In the news, it’s all Disney, all the time. There are new trailers for Avengers: Endgame and the live-action remake of Aladdin, as well as the shocking revelation that James Gunn has been rehired by Disney to helm the third Guardians of the Galaxy film, just months after he was dramatically sacked. Finally, in the quiz, Patrick leads us on a journey through some movie connections.
