This week, ambitious new sci-fi movie Annihilation opened in the UK, but it’s only available via Netflix, bypassing the multiplex. Meanwhile, the streaming service is pushing for a share of the blockbuster pie and the ominous spectre of piracy continues to loom on the horizon. With these challenges in place, what does the industry need to do in order to turn things around?
In this video, I take a look at the reasons why the cinema experience is becoming less of a draw for film fans and take a look at some ways the industry could get back on its feet and preserve the magic of the big screen.
