There’s a trio of cinematic heavyweights together for the very first time on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher. I’ll leave it to you to decide whether we’re the heavyweights, or whether that intro might have something to do with The Post.
It’s that Oscar contender we review this week, uniting the remarkable cinematic threesome of Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks for the first time in order to tell the story of the investigative reporting surrounding the Pentagon Papers. There are also reviews of Pixar’s joyous new animation Coco and high-octane thriller The Commuter, in which Liam Neeson punches a lot of people on a train.
The news section, meanwhile, is entirely devoted to this week’s nominations for the Oscars 2018, in which bizarre fishy fantasy The Shape of Water is leading the field. Patrick then hosts the first quiz of 2018, pitting two acting heavyweights against each other and, again, I’ll leave you to decide whether that refers to Tom and Luke or Liam Neeson and Tom Hanks. Answers on a postcard, or in an abusive comment.
