It’s a real mixed bag of action, horror and existential drama on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

There are reviews of three very different movies, starting with horror prequel-prequel Annabelle: Creation, which expands the Conjuring universe even further. We also chat about David Lowery‘s beguiling drama A Ghost Story, in which Oscar winner Casey Affleck stands motionless under a sheet for 90 minutes, and the hard-hitting action thriller Atomic Blonde. If Mad Max: Fury Road wasn’t quite enough to make Charlize Theron a bona fide action hero, this will finish the job.

In the news section, we chat about the first trailer for The Death of Stalin and the revelation that Daniel Craig is finally officially confirmed to play the role of James Bond for a fifth and final time. In the debate, we discuss the current situation with originality in children’s animated movies and the quiz pits comedies of the 1970s against 1990s sci-fi.
