Serious drama is at the core of this week’s The Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

There are reviews of the nail-biting drone warfare thriller Eye in the Sky and Hungarian Holocaust drama Son of Saul, which picked up the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film earlier this year.

We also discuss the DC superhero universe’s worrying loss of directors in recent weeks and the news that Disney is being criticised for its lack of diversity, particularly when it comes to LGBT characters.

Diversity is also in the frame as Luke puts the Marvel franchise under the microscope in the soapbox, Patrick pitches a brand new take on a comedy classic and remakes are the subject of our movie quiz.
