Trailer Round-Up: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Inbetweeners 2 and more

A new trailer has been released for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Andy Serkis monkeys around and a team of foul-mouthed teens return in my weekly round-up of the film trailers released online.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

The new trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes gives us our first real look at the world created by the simian flu that spread across the world at the end of the 2011 franchise reboot.

It seems that apes are now the dominant species on Earth, led by Caesar (Andy Serkis). A small group of humans have worked out how to survive the virus and, led by Gary Oldman’s villain, they want the world back.

It looks like a suitably epic follow-up to the brilliant first film.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes will be released in the UK on 17th July 2014.

The Inbetweeners 2

The boys are back in town, and this time they’re going down under.

In 2011, the cast of the E4 hit TV series managed to do the unthinkable and produce a spin-off that really worked. It was every bit as funny as the TV show and increased the scope perfectly.

The sequel will send the gang off on a gap year to Australia. Judging by the teaser, they don’t exactly endear themselves to the locals.

The Inbetweeners 2 will be released in the UK on 6th August 2014.

22 Jump Street

We’ve already seen a lot of marketing material for this comedy sequel, but 22 Jump Street continues to impress in this latest trailer.

Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill look to have the same excellent chemistry as before. There’s the usual plethora of drink. dicks and drugs, with many of the old faces from the first film set to return in cameo roles.

The first film has the advantage that no one expected it to be as good as it was. 22 Jump Street is going to have to work much harder to keep the bar high.

22 Jump Street will be released in the UK on 6th June 2014.

Bong Joon-Ho’s dystopian action movie Snowpiercer has been highly anticipated amongst the internet film community for a long time. This new red-band trailer will only make the anticipation more unbearable.

The film showcases a world ravaged by a climate of inhospitable cold. A perpetual motion train, segregated by social class, protects the surviving human race. But those at the back are not content to just accept their place.

The highlight of the trailer is the crunching action and a delightfully villainous Tilda Swinton, who is doing a lot of very interesting work of late.

Snowpiercer does not currently have a UK release date.

A Million Ways to Die in the West

Seth MacFarlane’s follow-up to Ted is a bawdy comedy Western, in which the Family Guy creator stars alongside Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried and Liam Neeson.

This red-band trailer doesn’t really show us anything that other previews haven’t, other than more of Sarah Silverman’s hilarious prostitute and an incredibly crude gag involving shadows.

If it matches the tone of Ted, A Million Ways to Die in the West could be another great entry in MacFarlane’s big screen career.

A Million Ways to Die in the West will be released in the UK on 30th May 2014.

There’s not too much to say about this. Nicolas Cage being about as Nicolas Cage as it is possible for Nicolas Cage to be.

It will probably be amazing.

Rage will be released in the UK later this year.
