It’s a quiet week for movie releases, but a big week for James Gunn on the latest podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

This week’s biggest film is the bizarre and widely derided Sky Cinema thriller Serenity, in which Anne Hathaway plays an abused wife attempting to convince an old flame (Matthew McConaughey) to murder her violent husband. We also review the controversial Michael Jackson documentary Leaving Neverland, Second World War romance The Aftermath and the new Irish horror The Hole in the Ground.

In the news section, we discuss Idris Elba joining James Gunn’s upcoming movie The Suicide Squad, as well as the latest trailer for Gunn-produced superhero horror Brightburn. There’s also time to chat about our intriguing first glimpse of Hereditary director Ari Aster‘s creepy new film Midsommar. In the quiz, Tom asks questions inspired by this week’s new releases.
