Christmas has come early on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

We review Disney’s festive blockbuster The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, in which Keira Knightley plays a woman made of sweets and Mackenzie Foy tries valiantly to escape the oncoming storm of kiddie fantasy clichés. We also chat about Peter Jackson‘s staggering First World War documentary They Shall Not Grow Old, which is available on BBC iPlayer now, and Mike Leigh‘s historical drama Peterloo, before a brief discussion of the new British horror-comedy Slaughterhouse Rulez.

In the news, we discuss the possibility of a reboot for the Shrek franchise and a pair of threequels moving forward without their original talent roster. Paddington 3 might be happening without director Paul King, while Taron Egerton has said he will not be involved in Kingsman 3. To round things off, Patrick leads a quiz based on connections between films.

If you like the podcast, subscribe and rate us on iTunes, as well as Spotify, Stitcher or Player FM if you prefer. It really helps.

Some of the audio quality this week is a little ropey. Apologies for that! It’ll be fixed by next week.
