We’re taking on some very different movies on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

The reviews are headed up by The Spy Who Dumped Me, in which Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis play friends who become unwittingly involved in a global espionage conspiracy, and Spike Lee‘s true-life tale BlacKKKlansman, starring John David Washington – son of Denzel – as a black man who infiltrates the Ku Klux Klan. We also review the dismal, depressing double bill of R-rated puppet comedy The Happytime Murders and meme-inspired horror Slender Man – two of the worst movies of the year.

In the news section, we look at the much gorier and swearier new red-band trailer for Shane Black‘s rebooted The Predator, chat about Matt Smith‘s mysterious casting in the Star Wars franchise and take a look at the newly announced line-up for this year’s BFI London Film Festival. To round off the podcast, we look back at the 2018 summer season at the cinema, revealing the best and worst of the multiplex.
