We take on the most exciting horror movie of the year on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

Our main review is, of course, devoted to Ari Aster‘s buzzy new horror film Hereditary. Featuring Toni Collette in a barnstorming performance, it’s a terrifying exploration of grief that has been favourably compared to The Exorcist by some reviewers. That’s a tough act to follow, and we ask whether the movie deserves that hype. An easier question is whether belated stoner comedy sequel Super Troopers 2 is any good. It isn’t.

In the news section, we discuss the surprising announcement that Star Wars is cooling off its process of making spin-off movies and the first trailer for Michael B Jordan-starring sequel Creed 2, as well as the news that Robert Zemeckis is set to helm the new adaptation of Roald Dahl’s The Witches. Then, finally, Tom leads a quiz based around comedy cops and horror mothers, in honour of this week’s releases.
