We’ve all seen The Greatest Showman. In fact, most of you reading this have probably seen the box office dynamite musical more than once and recorded your own cover of one of its songs for YouTube. The film is finally arriving on Blu-ray and DVD in the UK after dominating the cultural conversation for the last five months. With that in mind, it’s a good time to take a look back at the film and decide why it has been the movie to defy terrible reviews and become a roaring success.
In this video, I talk about Hugh Jackman‘s work in the movie, the old cliché of a film being “for audiences, not critics” and the mad success of the soundtrack in the UK charts. This is a film that should be celebrated, if only for its ability to confound everyone’s expectations.
