A major performance from the wonderful Margot Robbie is the focus of the reviews section on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Luke Stevenson, with Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.
We review a trio of films, starting with the dismal comedy Father Figures, in which Ed Helms and Owen Wilson are brothers on the hunt for their biological father. There’s also a chat about Clio Barnard‘s stunning British drama Dark River before we take on the biggest movie of the week – ice skating drama I, Tonya for which Margot Robbie is nominated for Best Actress.
In the news section, we round up the major winners and losers from the BAFTAs and discuss the latest rumours around the director’s chair for Bond 25. There’s also chatter about Jessica Chastain‘s potential role in the It sequel, which is due to shoot this summer. In the final segment, we preview this weekend’s Oscars ceremony, giving our predictions for the major categories.

Correction: Tom’s “boring mathematical answer” for why The Shape of Water will win Best Picture is not only boring, but incorrect. La La Land won both the PGA and DGA award last year, without winning the Oscar. It seems the Warren Beatty-based confusion remains in place.
