Fifty Shades Freed, Black Panther and The Shape of Water battled for Valentine’s Day

It’s the bizarre battle for the Valentine’s Day box office on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Patrick Wilson, with Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher.

We review three huge movies on this week’s show, starting with trilogy-closing romance Fifty Shades Freed and Guillermo del Toro‘s poetic awards season favourite The Shape of Water. Then, we move on to Black Panther, which adds a welcome shot of diversity to the Marvel Cinematic Universe by virtue of a majority black cast and a completely new cultural tone.

In the news section, we chat about the first full trailer for Pixar’s Incredibles 2, the revelation that Paddington director Paul King could make a Willy Wonka movie and the fallout from the WGA Awards. To round things off, Patrick leads a quiz based on the apparently fertile topics of fish and panthers.
