You probably haven’t seen the biggest film on this week’s Popcorn Muncher Podcast, hosted by Luke Stevenson and Tom Beasley – editor of The Popcorn Muncher. But then again, almost no one has gone to see Ghost in the Shell.

We both review that film, which has been shrouded in controversy as a result of Scarlett Johansson‘s casting in the lead role despite the character’s Japanese origins. We also take a look at Ben Wheatley‘s joyous, rapid-fire action-comedy Free Fire, starring the likes of Sharlto Copley and Brie Larson, and surprisingly creepy indie horror film The Autopsy of Jane Doe.

For Free Fire fans, we’ve teamed up with Studiocanal to offer up a prize pack with loads of cool merchandise related to the film. Click on the links in the sidebar next to this post for information on how to enter.

In the news section, we discuss Joss Whedon‘s arrival in the DC Extended Universe, Ridley Scott‘s new war film and the surprise movie that has topped the charts for the most profitable of 2016. In honour of Ghost in the Shell, we also run down our top five box office flops that deserve better and should be reappraised.

To mark the first anniversary of the podcast a few weeks ago, we created a trio of bingo cards so you can play along with our podcast in-jokes and quirks. Let us know in the comments if you’ve had a go!
